Nuffnang Christmas Event

We planned to want to do this xmas event for a while but after lack of responses of what to do for the NN xmas event, we thought we had to take it into our own hands and organize something for the community. Basically what we wanted to do was just to get a few bloggers together, for dinner, then hanging out, and exchanging presents, and get to know each other better. What we didn’t have was a venue. We were thinking of doing it at the Nuffnang office and we asked a restaurant nearby to cater for us. It worked out to be too expensive and cleaning up ourselves might have been too much trouble.

Julia and Rachel went to Wudaokou and found this nice cosy little cafe called Friend’s Cafe. It’s a small place that fits 30 people just right. We had quite a good response online on the poeple that said they wanted to come, and about 30 did show up.

The famous “Pinky Tham” picture that was on all our sales decks:

Thank you NNMY for I stole 100 badges from the MY office courtesy of NIcchay’s permission muahahahaha.. Will get the NNCN badges up and running soon, and it probably look cooler.

Event supposed to start at 7pm and people actually showed up on time from 7-7.30pm! Bloggers started rolling in and Julia were just signing them in which I chatted with every blogger I could get my hands on. All the bloggers brought presents to exchage too which I was pretty surprised! They did take the effort to go out and buy something!

Some bloggers started playing some games like ???? which I have totally no idea what it was all about but they all seemd to get along pretty well even without knowing each other. Dinner was served shortly and my oh my, we had lotsa food that we had to take some back after the event as well.

While dinner was just about done, we wanted everyone to get to know everyone even better so instead of everyone introducing themselves to everyone, we played a game where you picked a name from a bowl, if you don’t know who that person it, go find out who it is, then find out information about that person, and introduce them to everyone. The person who did the best introduction, would win a brand new set of Philips speakers courtesy of Nuffnang!

That game was pretty good. It made people ask more questions about each other than usual. I had the chance to find out more about this one girl blogger as well who was studying to be a TV show director who was single and wanting to do her Masters in Marketing at NYU. I think I asked more information than that but by the time I was done I couldn’t remember much already hahaha.

Bloggers came up one by one to introduce each other and the introducer would get the introducee’s present.

I only had my blackberry camera with me so these are the only few shots of people with their presents. Here is Julia pretty happy with her book.

And another blogger ??? ?yes that’s his blog name) hahaha, with his gift.

Aftter everyone was done, Rachel Julia and I shortlisted 3 bloggers who we thought were the best in introducing and let everyone vote. It was pretty obvious that this blogger Raylei was the winner as he was pretty creative in his introduction making up most of the shit of the introducee. He was presented with the prize and everyone wanted him to give a thank you speech. Now instead of doing the regular thank you blabla, he ….

fucking…

broke into….

a ….

freestyle rap!!!

Rapping about the night, the event, the present, the introducee.

Unbelievable. Everyone was so amazed, shocked and wowed. I was fumbling with my blackberry to take a video but managed to just get pictures.

This is him breaking it down for at least a good 90 seconds:

WHen he was done, everyone cheered like crazy. Insane energy in the room.

Everyone left super happy. And wanted more of these kinda events. We’ll do more for the bloggers! All this thanks for our awesome nuffies Rachel and Julia for organizing and making this a success.

The owner of this place actually has some birds and yes., a fucking snake there.

After that I went to Vics, one of beijing’s biggest clubs with a few MAlaysian friends and yes, this is for everyone’s viewing pleasure.

Julie (in black), attracted this super hot chinese girl in red, somehow that they kept doing some lesbo shit on the dancefloor. We were all so jealous of Julie that night. The girl in red didn’t seem at all interested in 3 of us dudes that were there that night (Vig, Henry, and I).

We just stared in awe as Julie took it away.

Just got back to Beijing after #nuffiescruise

Wow it’s been a while since the last post, but these are a few updates since I got back to Beijing after being away for 20 days.

The travel was like this:

HK for 2 nights, met up with Grace Leung and Pong there. Then Singapore for 3 nights to hang with@davienne , before going for the #nuffiescruise to Phuket. The cruise was so much fun, and there are loads of pictures on Facebook but I didn’t take none at all. Back to Singapore for another 3 nights, hung out with the Carat MY team for Zoukout, neither of us made it INTO zoukout. Then left for KL for 8 nights to get my visa done + MYnuffies xmas party and secret santa.

Was good coming back to work here at NNCN. Bought some stuff for the nuffies here. Julia always liked caps so I got both Rachel and her a Royal Carribean cruise cap and also a xmas hat. She was pretty confused which to wear so she wore both.

I had one of the awesomest secret santa gift. To everyone’s surprise, Huiwen ended up being my secret santa and bought me something way over budget. She didn’t even know how to go buy it so she had to ask some advice from some friends.

Well it all paid off and it’s right here in the NNCN office now!!

All i need to do is get a putter now. Nyehehehehehe

Hung out the first night I got back with Julie, Suzen and Vig. Was happy to hang with them again. They won’t be here very much longer, will be gone once they’re done with the Chinese course. So probably hang with them more!

Was walking to the police station to get my clearance for the working visa and had a clear view from the bottom of the China World Tower 3. Gosh this is tall. It’s the tallest building in Beijing anyway.

Sorry for the random insert of the building. But just to share whatever I have. hehehe. value blogging.

Chao Kuey Tiaw

I’m back in Malaysia, and there’s this awesome Chao Kuew Tiaw store near my place, but it’s always packed. But since it’s so good it’s worth the wait. I went there with a few of my friends and we could barely find a table to sit.

It was sharp 12pm and everyone was out for lunch then hence the trouble to get a seat. After a while of standing, we finally found ourselves a table quite far away from the stall, which 5 of us cramped onto. We went to order the food but the lady was so busy we weren’t sure whether she heard us. But the nature of Malaysian hawkers are even though you don’t get yourself heard, the food normally arrives.

1pm, and the food is not here, we go check with the “auntie” again, she said, yeaps, almost ready. Great. We were all hungry.

2pm, tables have already changed hands a few times already. Different people sitting and we still havent’ gotten our food. Mind you the walk from the stall to our table was pretty damn far. So I had to make my way there again and ask wats going on? “Auntie” said, this is it already, this is coming to you soon. Fine. I made my way back. If it were any other chaokueytiaw we would have given this up long ago but we knew this was good and it was worth the wait and we’ve heard stories about waiting long for this one as well. And since I’m not always in Malaysia anymore I just wanted some of this before I left again.

3pm, fuck the place was getting empty. My friends and I haven’t given up yet. I made my way yet again to the stall and fuck me the auntie has already started packing up. I walked up to her and before I could say anything she says, “sold out”. I’m like WTFFFF?FFFF!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!….David Wong’s not the type who would give anyone a big blasting but 3 hours 2 reminders and no fucking chao kuey tiaw?!!?!!? this was too much. I fucked her up nicely, you better make me some chaokueytiaw now bitch or I’ll….i’ll….JUST FUCKING MAKE ME MY CHAOKUEYTIAO!!!Terrified, she’s like oh okok, fine fine. So she took out her wok again, and stopped cleaning the stall. She asked, so what was it you wanted again? At this point, i couldn’t remember wat everyone wanted so I just told her what I wanted and she was like, oh, we don’t have taokey already, we don’t have shrimps already, we don’t ahve kaochoi already, we dont’ have etc. I’m like wtf …..What do you have?!!? She said, just kuey tiaw and egg. !$!@%!%^$^#%&$^*%^#$@#&…i said fine, give me 5 of those. damnit.

I went back to my friends, and i told them wat happened but they gave up already. They said, we’ll just go somewhere else to eat. I’m like wtf…I ordered arleady and she’s cooking it now! They said, gah …it’s been too long and she doens’t have most of the ingredienta anyway. ….fml. I relunctantly went back to tell her that we didnt’ want it anymore and half way there, I see her, walking towards our direction wiht 5 plates of kuey tiao and egg. faenuaienlafnlkeufhaelkfaiuelhflaiuef We went back to my table and my friends had already left. ….

The story didn’t end like that as I soon realised that this was all a dream. I woke up shortly after and BBMed Huiwen saying I had a bad dream.

Somewhere in the story there was also a scene about goign through someone’s house who happen to be my tuition teacher’s place and trying to get chopsticks somewhere.

It’s all a blur now, it was way more vivid 2 days ago for this dream. I should write my dreams as soon as it happens next time.
